Striking Design, Sophisticated Meeting Space

In the heart of the Colonial seaport George Washington once called home, Monaco Alexandria, a Kimpton Hotel stands out as a landmark four-star luxury destination. The property underwent an extensive and stylish renovation by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.

Located on King Street in Old Town Alexandria, the Monaco Alexandria features 241 rooms in a six-story red-brick building. General Washington’s legacy and the Civil War era subtly inform the spirit and décor of this boutique hotel, but its pampering personality and bold style are very much in the now.

The hotel puts guests in the midst of a charming city with easy access to Washington DC, Mt. Vernon, the Washington Convention Center, and National Harbor. Guests can easily take advantage of nearby destination restaurants, inviting boutiques, jogging and bike paths, and historic architecture.

The hotel certainly is stylish. The domed lobby/living room sets the tone with eclectic furnishings and treasures that one might find in the home of a world-class traveler. From the striking blown-glass chandelier to the Moroccan style cabinets and avant-garde art, every nook reveals a dash of style.

MEETING SPACE:

Monaco Alexandria offers over 5,000 square feet of meeting space, including a spacious new ballroom for upscale business and social events, as well as 3,000 square feet of seasonal private meeting space in the outdoor courtyard. Elegant meeting spaces are adorned with the Monaco’s signature rich colors and plush fabrics.

The Paris Ballroom will be ideal for all types of social events, business functions and weddings. The ballroom features nearly 2,500 square feet of open space and can flow into the hotel’s private outdoor courtyard. Intimate meeting and boardrooms are also available for smaller groups.

THE ROOMS

Luxurious guestrooms and suites at the Monaco Alexandria play up juxtapositions of colors, details, and patterns subtly inspired by Union soldiers’ uniforms with a palette of dark charcoal and cream, rich reds, vibrant orange and a touch of blue.

Plush beds swathed in Kimpton’s signature animal print Frette linens and soft throw blankets are framed with a swag of fabric draped over finials above the headboard. The 21st century amenities, including 37-inch flat screen LCD televisions and ergonomic work areas, are set against a backdrop of warm textured walls and plush charcoal and cream carpeting.

In addition to its luxurious rooms, the hotel boosts 4 two-story suites and 28 Monte Carlo rooms with balconies overlooking the hotel’s courtyard.

Travelers have access to an iHome clock radio with a docking station and Wi-Fi high-speed Internet. For guests who are more inclined to relax and unwind, Kimpton’s Mind.Body.Spa program includes in-room televised yoga, Pilates, core-strengthening and meditation programming on demand.

Good to know is that the hotel is a pet-friendly destination. From April to October, the Monaco offers Alexandria’s beloved “Doggie Happy Hour,” a favorite of both locals and guests who are invited to gather twice a week to mingle with each other and Charlie – the hotel’s resident four-legged “Director of Pet Relations” who oversees pet guest satisfaction and daily pet operations.
