On May 25, 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR goes into effect. This regulation in EU law is designed to protect data and the privacy of all individuals within the European Union. It outlines the rules around the export of personal data outside of the EU, giving control back to individuals over their personal data. Planners hosting events and using online technologies and apps to manage their events will be affected by these new regulations, especially when European attendees participate in your conference hosted outside of the EU.
It is very important for meeting and event planners to understand the implications of this regulation and understand what needs to be done to be in compliance. Our interactive webinar will address this topic with Ms. Ruth Carter, an expert attorney on the new regulation.
Known for her daring antics and outgoing personality, Ruth Carter is a licensed Arizona attorney with a practice that focuses on internet law, intellectual property, and business law. She is also an authority on the new European privacy law, GDPR, as she used her own company to decipher this law, and then in turn, help others apply it to their businesses.
Ruth was selected as an American Bar Association Legal Rebel, a Phoenix Business Journal 40 Under 40, and a Super Lawyers Southwest Rising Star. She also wrote three best-selling books on guerrilla marketing and social media law including The Legal Side of Blogging: How Not to get Sued, Fired, Arrested, or Killed.
