Negotiation: Facilitating Agreements Between Two or More Parties

Speaker: Adam Wong, Talent Management Strategist, Rockstar Workforce

Overview
Negotiation is an important leadership skill that comes into play virtually every day. We’re constantly negotiating with employees, vendors, customers, and whomever else we might serve, therefore, we’re constantly in the process of facilitating agreements between people.

Good Negotiation skills include being well prepared, showing patience and maintaining integrity. People with good negotiation skills are able to break down bigger issues into smaller ones. These people have good intuitive insight, practical thinking ability and the ability to think on their feet.

As an LDF alumni, we invite you to join us in a fast-paced, results oriented discussion and exercise to further develop your negotiation skills. The exercise will be a practical application that virtually all leaders experience, so each leader will be able to find familiarity with how to make it work for them.

Additional Learning Outcomes

  • How to overcome the biggest obstacle – a lack of trust
  • Quickly identify the key issues that lead to a resolution
  • How to optimize the relationships involved in the negotiation
  • Establish metrics to measure the quality of the negotiated solution
  • How to seek win-win opportunities

The Big Takeaway

Finding solutions and negotiating agreements is an essential skill for a leader, so we’ll discuss a framework to develop negotiation skills that can be practiced and implemented immediately. Participants will leave thinking of this skill like an athlete thinks of a muscle, if you train it, it can grow and develop.
