Room 206AB, Level 2
Led by Brady Huggett, the Business editor of Nature Biotechnology, this panel will provide an informed and practical conversation on how scientific inventions are moved from the lab bench to the patient. Panelists will bring their diverse viewpoints to the discussion, including a senior pharmaceutical industry executive who has worked with inventions licensed from several different universities, a research leader of one of the most productive labs in Massachusetts (with several approved products now on the market), and finally a new investor from the UK who focuses purely on commercializing university inventions. The panelists will provide guidance on how and when inventions gain traction inside the research lab and in the commercial arena, how to get to proof of concept through data collection and analysis, how to find funding to reach goal, and examine major potential pitfalls on the way. This session will also be recorded and available as a podcast.
