Ready to dive a bit deeper into the most innovative new immunotherapies? We'll start with a review of the immune system, then explain the different strategies used by tumors to evade the immune response. Immunotherapies are therapeutics designed to overcome this evasion and turn the full power of the patient's immune system towards defeating cancer. We'll examine chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies, second-generation CAR-T, T-cell receptor (TCR), CAR-NK therapies, and immune system checkpoint inhibitors. We'll discuss applications in oncology as well as autoimmune and other types of disease. Finally, we'll examine both the opportunities and the challenges presented by these new therapies. This 75-minute talk is presented by Dr. Emily Burke, lead instructor and scientific writer for Biotech Primer. Biotech Primer is a biopharma training company that specializes in explaining science to non-scientists.
