While life sciences directed technology-based economic development (TBED) organizations have multiplied over the last 40 years, their missions are similar and largely unchanged - to drive regional economic development in the life sciences. Many leading organizations have adopted roles as direct or indirect investors in innovation at all stages of development. These investments - ranging from traditional grants, loans and tax credits to equity vehicles, seeding public/private partnerships and other emerging investment models - are designed to grow their innovation pipelines and generate economic and financial returns for their primary funders. Representatives from four of the nation%u2019s premier life sciences TBED organizations will discuss the evolution of their models and their current approaches for delivering impact to their funders and constituents.
