Block 1 : Connections 360: A Parent and Community Engagement Program for Schools

Parental engagement is a critical component of a successful school. Developing and implementing a successful parental engagement model require planning, collaboration, and partnerships among families, teachers, school administrators, and community organizations. Connections 360° is a parental engagement program based upon best practices and decades of research on family-school partnerships. This program was developed as a user-friendly guide for school leadership teams interested and invested in strengthening family-school connections. In this session, participants will learn about the 6 goals of Connections 360°. Each goal includes specific strategies, planning tools, and suggested measures to assess improvement over time.

Learning Outcomes:

Connections 360 provides a framework and implementation materials to guide schools to develop a positive school culture that promotes and fosters high levels of parental engagement. A Connections 360 school will have the strategies and tools to accomplish these 6 critical goals:
1. Foster a welcoming, cooperative, and mutually supportive climate for all families.
2. Support the academic interests and address the academic needs of students.
3. Meet the broad array of social and health needs of families.
