Block 4 : What Happens When You Teach 10,000 Kids to Code?

jul 25, 2018: 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

In 2014, RePublic pledged to teach computer science (CS) as a core academic class. Four years later, RePublic has trained over 50 teachers to implement our curriculum with over 10,000 scholars across the South. RePublic has now launched its first high school, and all scholars are enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles — revolutionize demographics regarding minorities and women in CS. Learn what works (and what doesn't), interact with our curriculum, and participate in a Q&A.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will leave with access to our open source multi-year CS curriculum that has been implemented in district and schools across the south, lessons learned around implementing computer science programs, and deep insight into the 2018 TN CS standards all schools will be expected to implement in the coming years.
