COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE BACKGROUND:
The need for and interest in STEM education continues to increase across Arizona. The AZSTEM School Community of Practice is an initiative that empowers practitioners to learn from one another in a social structure based on their learning goals. 60 school teams across Arizona, each with representation from community and industry, school leadership, educators, and students, have joined together to collaborate and design innovative solutions to the challenges of increasing STEM education and preparing students for the 21st century global economy. Arizona SciTech along with the Intel, Maricopa Education Service Agency and the Arizona Science Center are leading the initiative as part of a STEM ecosystem within the STEM Funders Network. ABOUT SEPTEMBER 8:
Feedback from the first COP meeting in May, reflected a strong interest in focusing the second meeting on resources. As a result, the September 8th meeting will focus on community of practice members sharing resources and best practices between schools and learning about STEM based resources and opportunities from education support groups in Arizona.
Over 400 attendees are anticipated for the upcoming resource fair this September 8th!
